Gainesville police arrest one, continue to investigate stabbing death
Gainesville police say they are investigating a homicide that happened over the weekend and may have a man in custody that was involved.
Late Friday night in the 700 block of Harvey Street officers say they found 34-year-old Johnny Smith of Denton, Texas.
He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, then taken to Plano by helicopter where he died.
The man in custody is 43-year-old Victor Martinez and is being held at the Cooke County jail on suspicion of murder. Police are still treating the incident as an active investigation and have released few other details.

Escapee still on the run from Dickson police, Carter County Sheriff's Department
The search is still on for a man who escaped custody in Dickson on Thursday.
Police say Ricky Forward escaped police and Carter County Sheriff’s custody while his car was being searched after a traffic stop.
Forward was pulled over in Dickson for speeding, but the officer noticed he was acting suspiciously and asked him to step out of the vehicle.
Forward was handcuffed and put in an assisting Sheriff Deputy’s cruiser while the car was searched.
Authorities found several bags of drugs, but during the search Forward escaped.
Forward has warrants out for aggravated assault and battery and is possibly armed and considered dangerous. He is a black man with short, black hair, about 6 feet tall, 125 pounds. Anyone with information on where Forward might be should call authorities immediately.
Fires in Logan County claim hundreds of acres, several homes and at least one life
Several homes have already been destroyed and hundreds more are in danger as a wildfire continues to sweep across Logan County this morning.
At around 4 p.m. yesterday, a controlled burn in Logan County got out of hand and spread quickly toward Guthrie. By 9 p.m., it was estimated to have burned 4-6 square miles of land as well as many homes. At least one man has been found dead in his home after refusing to leave when the area was evacuated.
The fire continues to burn and more than 40 fire departments are currently battling the blaze.
