FULL-TIME NEWS DIRECTOR The Southern Oklahoma Radio Center- 95.7 KKAJ/GTO 107/92.7 KTRX/AM 1240 KVSO- in Ardmore, OK is searching for a FULL-TIME NEWS DIRECTOR. You should have a minimum 1 year of journalism experience in Radio, TV, Newspaper or other medium. Our news director will write, produce, voice, record and update station branded newscasts and sportscasts for the morning shows, midday news updates, afternoon newscasts, update website news/sports content at least three times daily, dub morning weather audio, update telephone-based station weather reports and be on call to research and report breaking news stories and severe weather. You should relate to and understand the differences between the Country, Classic Rock and Oldies listeners, be able to adapt each newscast/sportscast and website content to those unique audiences and successfully interact with other on air talent about pop culture and be open to share aspects of your personal life. You should understand equal time obligations, political advertising guidelines and other FCC rules and policies. The SORC’s News Director will attend local governmental and organizational meetings, fundraisers and special events, schedule and conduct interviews, research story background information and facts and record and edit appropriate audio clips for on air use. Applicants should be familiar with Cool Edit Pro, Scott Studios, other digital/analog recording and playback devices, computers, Microsoft FrontPage, FTP, the internet and other technology. Some sports and other duties may also be assigned.
