Thunder claim game one in the first round of playoffs

On Saturday, the Thunder were the ONLY home team to come away with a game 1 win in the first round of the playoffs in their 100-86 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Thunder led big at halftime, 56-34, holding Memphis to its worst offensive half in franchise playoff history. It was so bad, the Grizzlies made only one shot in the entire half from the field.

Russell Westbrook was cleared by coach Scotty Brooks before Saturday night’s game with no playing time restrictions, leaving him ready to get some redemption against a Memphis squad he didn’t even get a chance to play against last year.

However, the second half was a different story. The Grizzlies came out and chipped a 22-point lead down to just two points in less than five minutes.

But the Thunder never trailed and eventually got the lead back to 10 with 7 minutes left in the game, making room for the bench players, including Caron Butler, to put on a show.

Kevin Durant ended the game with 33 points, Westbrook added 23 and Serge Ibaka put up 17 points and 4 blocks on the night.

The Thunder will play game two tonight at 7 p.m.

Mavs hang with San Antonio, lose by 5 for 10th straight loss to Spurs

The Mavericks were also in action this weekend. The No. 8-seeded Dallas squad lost to Memphis in their season finale, leaving them to play the No. 1 San Antonio Spurs.

The Mavs hung in hard with the Spurs for most of the game, but ultimately lost 90-85 in San Antonio, making it their 10th straight loss to San Antonio.

The Mavs will get a chance to claim home-court advantage on Wednesday night in San Antonio.
