Trial begins for man accused of killing disabled teen

A trial by jury is set to begin this morning for a Denison man accused of killing a disabled teen in Grayson County.

Robert Gray Jr. is accused of killing 15-year-old Brandon White in January of last year.

Gray apparently used violence to deal with White’s autism and bi-polar disorder.

He is also charged with aggravated assault, manslaughter and injury to a disabled person.


Young boy injured in boating accident on Lake Murray over the weekend

A 9-year-old boy was injured in a boating accident on Lake Murray yesterday afternoon.

Authorities say Braden Woodruff, from Davis, was tubing behind a boat when another boat turned a hit him on the tube. Woodruff was taken to the OU Medical Center with leg injuries and was listed in stable condition.

Troopers are listing reckless operation as the cause of the accident and encourage people to be more aware while boating this summer.


Six injured in auto accident in Bryan County Saturday

Six people were injured in a one-vehicle crash in Bryan County on Saturday.

Authorities say at around 2:30 in the afternoon, 20-year-old Garret Boone was driving on a one lane bridge on a county road southeast of Bennington when he turned around to look at the back seat. Oklahoma Highway Patrol said when he did so, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and came to a rest, hanging off the side of the bridge.

Boone and four other teens were treated and released for minor injuries at MCSO in Durant.
One passenger, 18-year-old Austin Covington was flown to a Plano hospital where he is listed in stable condition.


Fire forces Madill restaurant to close temporarily


A fire at the Pizza Hut in Madill has temporarily shut the business down.
Just after 4 p.m. on Friday, the attic of the restaurant caught fire. Officials are saying the cause appears to be electrical.

The attic of the business, along with the Air Conditioning Unit was damaged. No word on what the cost of the damage is or when they will reopen.
